Ø On January 11, 2011, the New York State Board of Regents formally adopted the NYS-modified version of the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts, including Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical subjects, and Mathematics. Ø Educators in New York State schools have between now and September 2012 to familiarize themselves with the Common Core State Standards, conduct “gap analysis” to determine needed changes to current curriculum and instruction in order to align with the CCSS, and get ready for full implementation.
