Model Schools
-
Check out the NEW Instructional Technology Website, packed full of carefully created and curated resources to support educators in 21-22 and beyond.
The Model Schools Program leads and supports districts in using instructional technology to provide the best possible learning environment for every student. The Model Schools program can accomplish this outcome by:
- Facilitating the development of multi-year instructional technology plans that provide a structure for technology-enhanced, culturally and linguistically responsive learning environments to support improved teaching and learning.
- Using multiple data sources to design and deliver customized professional learning to build teacher and administrator capacity to promote student learning and growth through the integration of relevant technology.
- Leveraging job-embedded instructional coaching & modeling the use of purposeful technology implementation to improve student achievement.
- Supporting the implementation of the new NYS Computer Science & Digital Fluency standards through the development of standards-aligned, impactful resources; the design of scope and sequences; and by coaching educators to seamlessly integrate computer science in K-12 classrooms.
Dedicated FTE‘s: In addition to regional support, districts can purchase a dedicated person, by the FTE, to work directly with them at the district or building level.

Professional Learning
Professional Learning Calendar
Here are our current Professional Learning offerings. All professional development comes with the support teachers need to connect teacher learning with student learning. This includes work within classrooms. Examples of ongoing work include our asynchronous professional learning opportunities.
Integrated Professional Learning
We collaborate with other Instructional Specialists to provide integrated professional development offerings. Please see the Regional School Success professional development calendar for all offerings. Examples include the Autism Collaborative Community, ongoing work with the NYS Science Learning Standards, building leadership and capacity around RtI Interventions, and igniting student creativity along with Cooperative Enrichment and School Library Systems.
Our Instructional Strategies
We employ a variety of instructional strategies and delivery methods to reach the needs of all teachers, administrators, and students.
In-person workshops are facilitated opportunities for teachers to actively engage and create dynamic learning opportunities for students.
Online professional learning opportunities allow teachers to participate in professional development from any location. Some offerings are synchronous, scheduled, collaborative opportunities. Others are asynchronous, allowing teachers to participate in professional learning at their own pace, place and time.
Hybrid online/in-person opportunities go beyond one-time professional learning to provide sustained opportunities with built-in time for support and follow-up.

Instructional Support
All professional development comes with the support teachers need to connect teacher learning with student learning. All instructional specialists are available to provide support in connecting meaningful pedagogy and practice. We work with teachers and administrators in the areas of preparation, instructional delivery, assessment, and reflection. This includes work within classrooms.
Planning & Decision-Making
We also serve as partners in decision-making and planning. Examples of this work include the planning and creation of Active Learning Spaces, curriculum development for the new Computer Science & Digital Fluency Standards, as well as planning and implementation around Computer-Based Testing.
