    English Language Classes
    Fall Semester

    English as a Second Language – BASIC

    Student will learn English to become more comfortable engaging with their community. Students will learn enough English to get a job or enter training/college programs.
    Students will study reading, writing, and vocabulary, and practice pronunciation and conversation.
     Monday thru Friday
     September 8 to December 23
     9 AM – 12 PM
     Cost: Free to work eligible adults

    English as a Second Language – INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

    Students will continue their mastery of the English language and become very comfortable engaging with businesses, employers, colleagues, and other native English speakers.
    Students will study more advanced reading, writing, and vocabulary, and practice more complex pronunciation and conversation.
     Monday thru Friday
     September 8 to December 23
     9 AM – 12 PM
     Cost: Free to work eligible adults

     Monday thru Thursday
     September 8 – December 23
     1 PM – 3 PM
     Cost: Free to work eligible adults

    2 New ESL Online Classes!

    English Conversation: Let’s Talk! for Intermediate and Advanced ESL Learners-
    This class is specifically for international students, scholars, au pairs, and visitors.
    Students will practice English speaking skills and talk in English with fluency and confidence.
    A variety of strategies and games will be used to engage participants in speaking.
     Tuesdays and Thursdays
     September 8 to October 8, 2020
     4 PM to 6 PM
     COST: $100

    English Reading & Discussion for Intermediate and Advanced ESL Learners-
    This class is specifically for international students, scholars, au pairs, and visitors to further their reading and comprehension skills.
    Students will increase their vocabulary, deepen their understanding of different reading materials, and provide opportunities for sharing opinions, perspectives, and questions.
     Tuesdays and Thursdays
     October 13 to November 12, 2020
     4 PM to 6 PM
     COST:$100

    Participants need a reliable device and internet connection and be comfortable using Google Classroom and Zoom Meeting.

    TST BOCES offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to help immigrants, refugees other non-native speakers learn or improve their English language skills. Classroom instruction is offered in downtown Ithaca and is offered free of charge.

    Students have the opportunity to practice English reading, writing and vocabulary while also working on their pronunciation and conversation skills. Citizenship skills are also included in the curriculum to assist students who are preparing for their citizenship test.
