Career and Tech Programs instruct students in a variety of technical areas, preparing them for entering the work force with a marketable skill and for continuing on to higher education. Classes are conducted at the TST BOCES Career and Tech Center on Warren Road in Ithaca.
All Career and Tech classes are currently New York State Approved. To be approved, courses must meet rigorous guidelines related to assessment, an academically strong curriculum that is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and relevance to industry practices. Some courses offer concurrent enrollment opportunities through TC3, and all programs have at least one articulation agreement with colleges that have a related program, which include, but are not limited to: SUNY Delhi, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Alfred, SUNY Morrisville, TC3, and Bryant and Stratton.

Career & Tech Students Have an Edge
Our Career & Tech Programs encompass a wide variety of interests. Career & Tech classrooms depict the environments of their industries, through the use of high-tech equipment.
Several Career & Tech programs offer Concurrent Enrollment College Credits from Tompkins-Cortland Community College. Articulation Agreements, educational arrangements between high schools and colleges, are available to all Career & Tech Completers.
Internship experiences offer practical understanding that cannot be duplicated in the classroom. Second year students have the opportunity to work with industry professionals in their related field of study, which will assist students with networking for full time employment, summer work experiences, and/or enrollment in a competitive post-secondary program.
Get More Out of High School
Students attend Career & Tech classes for a minimum of two hours a day, during the morning or afternoon session, while they continue to take classes at their home schools. The majority of students enroll in a Career & Tech class during their junior and senior years in order to complete the two year curriculum, and they earn up to three – four credits each year.
Due to the active learning model throughout our programs, students have an opportunity to be more self-directed in their education. Many students respond positively to this learning model, which helps improve study habits and earn higher grades.
Career & Tech is designed to fit within your high school requirements. Most students will earn an Advanced Regents or Regents Diploma upon graduation. Students who successfully complete a two year program at Career & Tech will earn a Completer Certificate in their designated field of study.
