  • TST BOCES Provides Environmental Education Experience for Lansing Students

    Lansing Central School District students recently took a field trip to Salmon Creek to release trout into the water and learn about local ecology thanks to the Environmental Education service provided by TST BOCES Regional School Success.

  • Future Filmmakers Earn Gold In SKILLSUSA Competition

    TST BOCES and Newfield students Nora Hernandez and Alex Blakely earned first place at the SkillsUSA competition located at the New York State Fairgrounds this April. SkillsUSA is a nationwide academic association that supports the further development of students whose focus is on careers in skilled trades. The duo is now preparing to head to the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia this June. This will be the first time in TST BOCES history to compete for a title at this level.

  • Gold For Graphics: TST BOCES Student Earns First Place In SkillsUSA Competition

    TST BOCES and Newfield student, Liane Jackson, earned first place at the Area 2 SkillsUSA competition this winter. SkillsUSA is a nationwide academic association that supports the further development of students whose focus is on careers in skilled trades. The competition took place at SUNY Morrisville, where Jackson was presented with her award in the design category.

  • TST BOCES to Host Local Job Fair on The Commons in Downtown Ithaca

    TST BOCES, Tompkins Workforce NY, and its community partners will host an in-person job fair to fill over 100 available positions on Wednesday, April 20th from 11:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at The Commons in downtown Ithaca. The job fair seeks to provide TST BOCES Adult Education students and local residents the opportunity to gain employment from more than fifteen community organizations and local businesses. This year’s event will also focus on promoting a more inclusive workforce by providing attendees with access to community groups, social service agencies, and job training programs.

  • TST BOCES Students Bring Home First State Championship for Newfield Basketball

    This month, the Newfield boys basketball team dominated the league and came out strong, winning a State Championship for the first time in their school’s history. This excitement could be heard across TST BOCES campus as four players, including the team’s captain Derek Pawlewicz, walked the halls being congratulated by students and staff.

  • Student Athlete Sam LaMorte Has Leadership Pinned Down

    Dryden Junior and TST BOCES student, Sam LaMorte, is a leader not only in the classroom, but also in the gym. This is LaMorte’s first year on Dryden’s wrestling team, where she has become a fierce competitor. Through her hard work and dedication, she took second place in the girls' Section IV Tournament. Even though she is the only female on her team, she says her teammates have had her back, “They have been extremely supportive,” she explained, “One of them actually says ‘Girl power!’ to me before every match.”

  • Smith School Teacher Receives Prestigious National Board Certification

    National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education. It was designed to develop, retain, and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.  In the state of New York, only about 1% of teachers have completed the NBCT process. Smith School Teacher of the Visually Impaired & Speech Pathologist Trish Peterson is one of them -- and she did it twice.

    TST BOCES hosted the first-ever Electric Vehicle (EV) Summit on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. The summit included a roundtable discussion with guest speakers about a variety of topics related to the launch of EV projects for public schools in the state of New York.

    The National Technical Honor Society’s (NTHS) Annual Holiday Food Drive is in full swing and they are hoping to make this year another one for the books! Students and staff are participating in some friendly competition to see who can collect the most non-perishable and holiday food items by Friday, December 17.
