Workforce NY and TST BOCES Adult Education Host Job Fair

Ithaca-area job seekers came to Tioga Place on the Commons to meet employers at the “Spring into Action” seasonal job fair hosted by TST BOCES Adult Education and Workforce NY.

Attendees were able to meet potential employers, learn about job openings and in some cases fill out and submit applications. Fourteen different community organizations and local businesses were present looking to fill vacant positions. Attending employers included Cornell University, New York State Parks and Recreation, the U.S. Census Bureau, Carpenters Local 277 Union and the Ithaca YMCA.

Approximately 75 people attended the job fair. Among the attendees were TST BOCES English as a Second Language students, high school equivalency students, Career & Technical Education students as well as local high school students and community members who came to explore employment opportunities.

The event also provided an opportunity to strengthen partnerships between the TST BOCES Adult Education program and other organizations that work to serve the community. After the success of this event it is planned to continue annually.
