CTE Completer Ceremony Speeches and Awards

Student of the Year Nominees

Terry Gawsee Paw

Terry is a completer in the Culinary Arts program and an Ithaca High School graduate and a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Terry is a kind, hardworking, positive leader and motivator for his peers. He has a great sense of humor and loves to learn new things. Last fall, Terry competed in a pie baking contest at SUNY Morrisville and took 3rd place with his efforts. Terry has been accepted into the Culinary Arts program at TC3 where he will attend in the fall of 2020 and play on the school’s soccer team. Terry hopes to one day become an accomplished chef in an upscale restaurant.

Kevin Harding

Kevin is a completer in the Heavy Equipment program and a Dryden High School graduate. Kevin is a conscientious and hardworking student with excellent attendance and work ethic. He arrives to school thirty minutes early every day to assist in preparing for both the morning and afternoon Heavy Equipment classes. Wherever there is extra work to be done, Kevin is the first one to volunteer for the task. When he is not in school or working at his job at Walgreens, Kevin volunteers for the Dryden Fire Department as a firefighter. Kevin took 1st place in the Skills USA state-wide competition for small engine repair.

Jacob Garrett

Jacob is a completer in the Digital Media Technology program, a graduate of TST BOCES Smith School, and the Treasurer for National Technical Honor Society and the Skills USA chapter. Jake has consistently demonstrated  a strong commitment to his education and is the top student in his class. He is a class leader, a leader on campus, and a constant source of support for his classmates. He goes above and beyond his classroom assignments, displays a  remarkable sense of curiosity, and arrives every day with a positive attitude. Jake has been accepted into the New Media program and TC3 where he will attend this fall. Jake’s career vision is to someday become a film director or animator.

Branden Riley

Branden is a completer in the Auto Body Technology program and graduate of Ithaca High School. Branden has an excellent work ethic, is very friendly, punctual, reliable and is always willing to lend a helping hand to any of his peers or his teachers. Branden is very eager to learn; always wanting to be better than he was the day before. He was the Highest Achiever in his class last year and again this year as a senior. During the school closure due to the Covid pandemic, Branden worked tirelessly to complete his senior project; he attended hours upon hours of zoom meetings with his teacher as he described what needed to be done on the rebuilding of his 1994 Honda Accord, which is a car that he bought with his own money from his job at Wegmans where he has worked since he was 15. When Branden is not working on his car or at Wegmans, he volunteers for the Enfield Fire Department as a Firefighter where he has been a volunteer since 2016. Branden hopes to become an Auto Body technician for a well respected and successful Auto Body repair business.
