A recent TST BOCES New Visions student from the Life Sciences program was selected to represent New York as a delegate to the 2020 World Food Prize Global Youth Institute.
Eryn Woernley, who graduated from Dryden Central School District and is an incoming freshman at Cornell University, will be given the opportunity to participate in the annual event. This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Global Youth Institute will be an interactive virtual experience. The event provides students an opportunity to interact with and learn from food security experts from around the world including Nobel laureates, heads of state, award-winning researchers and humanitarian leaders.
To be selected for this prestigious opportunity, Eryn Woernley wrote a research paper on the topic of food security for an assignment in New Visions. She then presented her findings to a panel at Cornell. Eryn was one of only a select group to have been chosen from the 75 youth who participated.
Eryn Woernley was also awarded the Tompkins County Distinguished Youth Award in July 2020.
