June Tompkins County Distinguished Youth Award
Keven Morse is a senior at Ithaca High School where he is an accomplished student athlete, competing in football, baseball, basketball and hockey. He earned the ICSD Scholar Athlete Award for his ability to keep an A average while participating in sports.
Keven is also a senior in the Criminal Justice program at the Career and Tech Center at TST BOCES. Keven is a great role model in the classroom, is polite, respectful, and helpful to his teacher and classmates. Keven just recently received his Security Officer license and is the May, 2021, Student of the Month.
Helping people is one of Keven’s strongest qualities and he demonstrates that strength while volunteering in the Enfield Fire Company as a firefighter. Keven loves working elementary youth teaching fire safety and overall helping out in the community. He has been volunteering with the Enfield Fire Company since 2017.
Keven’s career aspirations are to work for the Ithaca Fire Department some day and he is paving the way for the realization of the goal by currently participating in an internship with them. He is eager to learn and is getting along very well with all of the personnel down there.
Outside of school and sports, Keven works part time for the City of Ithaca maintaining the grounds at East Lawn Cemetery. He takes pride in his work of keeping the grounds in excellent shape, plowing in the winter and helping set up for funerals.
Keven is an excellent role model for all youth and ambassador for all of us at the Career and Tech Center. There is no doubt in my mind that he will continue his rise to excellence and make a positive impact on our Tompkins County community. I am very proud to nominate this young man for such a prestigious award.
