This morning, four (4) superintendents in Tompkins County at Lansing, Ithaca, Dryden and TST BOCES received an email threat indicating the possibility of a school shooting at an unspecified school in the county.

Each district immediately contacted and worked with its local law enforcement agency to determine appropriate next steps. After reviewing the information, law enforcement and school officials in Dryden determined that Dryden Central School District should implement a lock-out procedure. That lock-out has since been lifted.

Law enforcement agencies have deemed the threat non-credible. District leaders consistently stay in close communication with their law enforcement partners to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff, and this will continue.

The safety of our school communities is always our highest priority. We are grateful for the swift and coordinated response of our local law enforcement agencies, and for the cooperation of students, staff, and families throughout today’s events.
