🎯🍏Hitting Targets in More Ways Than One! 🍏🎯
Our P-TECH Seniors hit the mark with their newest project designing and installing apple cannon targets at Moore Family Farm! From sketching to painting to final installation, our students worked hard on every detail to bring the targets to life. They even got to test their hard work by aiming at the new targets themselves after installation this morning! 🎯🍎
You can see the P-TECH targets on display and celebrate fall fun at Moore Family Farm in Groton, NY, open weekends from 10am-5pm. If you're an educator, be sure to swing by this weekend and next for Teacher Appreciation! All school staff with ID get free admission! 🎃🍂

Welcome Day 2024 was a huge success! District Superintendent Lily Talcott kicked off her first Superintendent's Conference Day by welcoming every TST BOCES faculty and staff member to campus for a delicious breakfast and an inspiring start to the school year. Doug's Fish Fry parked on campus, fueling our spirits and raising funds for the next Smith School mural, adding to the contagious energy! ✨💙
The excitement is palpable as staff are busily transforming classrooms, reconnecting with one another, and putting the final touches on everything. We all eagerly wait for our students’ arrivals over the next couple of days. The 2024-2025 school year is already shaping up to be one filled with energy, opportunity, and new possibilities for every learner! 👩🏫📚

🌊✨ Swimming through summer memories 🌊✨
1️⃣ We made a splash with another swimming field trip to Tompkins Cortland Community College, followed by a delicious lunch in the Panther Dining Hall! 🏊♂️🍽️
2️⃣ Inspired by the spirit of the Olympics, we hosted "Taste the Nations," where each class represented a different country by creating delicious dishes to share with everyone at Smith School! 🌍🍴
3️⃣ On a hot day at the end of Extended School Year, our Snack Shack crew cooled things down with Water Olympics—complete with a slip and slide, water cannons, and plenty of bubbles for some summer fun! 💦🎉
We cannot wait to welcome all of the smiling faces back to our campus in just a few days! 😊🎒 #BackToSchool #SummerFun #ConnectingMindsInspiringGrowth #BOCESProud

🏫 Meet Our New P-TECH Principal: Christine Alexander! 🌟
Christine finds her greatest joy in her two wonderful sons and amazing daughter-in-law, who inspire her every day. She is equally passionate about collaborating with teachers who lead innovative projects and build strong connections to enrich students' learning experiences.
Nothing excites Christine more than the real-world impact of Project Based Learning (PBL), where students tackle engaging, real-world challenges that foster creative problem-solving skills. She believes our teachers are the true trailblazers—brave visionaries shaping the future with their courage to innovate and inspire the next generation. In the P-TECH program at TST BOCES, students work in small teams on complex, often ambiguous problems, developing the critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation skills essential for success in today’s world.
Christine said, "I am thrilled to join the P-TECH program and leverage my expertise in PBL and community partnerships to enrich our students' experiences! I look forward to making a positive impact and collaborating with this fantastic community!"

"TST BOCES got me through high school by providing a hands-on learning environment that truly engaged me. Spending half of my day at TST broke the traditional school routine and I got to go to a place where I had fantastic teachers and classmates to learn about subjects I am truly interested in. I am very grateful I got to spend a majority of my last two years of high school in an environment where I felt welcomed and valued. If I could go back and do it all over again I would choose BOCES every time." - Katie Perrine '24, Exercise & Health Sciences

On July 17th, our New Visions programs had a blast hosting a science immersion event at Tompkins County Public Library! Mr. David Syracuse, NV Engineering Teacher, and Mrs. Christine Becraft, NV Exercise Science & Human Performance Teacher, set up amazing scientific stations for kids to explore their content areas. From experimenting with the SpectroVis Plus to engaging in reflexology, yoga, and hands-on STEAM activities, the children embraced science with enthusiasm and curiosity.🧘♀️🧠
